These woods have been many things
Once a shelter, once a battlefield
Once comforting, once smothering
I've been going through them dark woods
for quite some time now
(was there anything before?)
Maybe I got slightly better
at surviving in the winter
but was still struggling with the mess within & surrending
But not long ago I found a blazing heart
its guiding light piercing my own heart
I was drawn to it and felt forever changed
I found a hand to hold, I found a heart to cherish
a mountain to climb, a river to push me forth
A lake to rest upon, stars to lay under
a wind singing a song, keeping my heart strong
This heart I love, I wish I could keep it forever
mend its wounds and shield it with my arms
I hope when we're apart, it'll be kept safe from harm
may the song I'm singing keep us forever warm
I walk again alone on the dark
the light that was pulling now pushes my back
I fear the dark no more for I have my own blazing heart
I don't have a hand to hold, but I still have a heart to cherish
